UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors are worn out over time and will need to be replaced. It is important to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing them.

The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw position, lever and key hole dimensions. Use the size guide to assistance with this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever/lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be put in on replacement or new doors. This type of handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. This handle is offered by a number of manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of sturdy materials and are ideal for doors with multi-point locks that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline and work from the same spindle and screw fixings so they are easily installed on doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to accommodate any user. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200 000 cycles. This helps ensure that the quality of finish and performance over time. The sprung lever can also be reduced to accommodate a wider range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for narrower door frames in which the cylinder is further back. A shortened lever is also an ideal choice for doors where the latch can be opened by a thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

imageThe lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. The handle can operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are usually used on UPVC double glazed doors and come in many variations & finishes.

The handles for patio doors have been tested to the minimum of 200k cycles and are available in a variety of finishes, including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This provides the window handle upvc with the best performance and durability to serve its intended use.

All UPVC lever pads for handles include a spindle and screws and can be mounted on a uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a bigger handle, which is often an advantage when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of door handles sagging out of the horizontal position when not in use.

When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is crucial to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is also called 'handle centres' or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the correct handles.

After you have identified the correct PZ size and the correct PZ size, you must make sure that the push and lever pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. They are typically round or square, with an internal lever and an external push pad.

The majority of UPVC Lever Pads we offer are spring-loaded. This means they can be reverted to a horizontal state when not being used, rather than hanging and possibly sticking in the frame. This prevents drafts and cold air from entering a home. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles are available in left and right handed versions that allow them to be placed on either side of the doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. They work by using a key to unlock a cylinder case that then reveals pins which can be aligned to those in the lock body and permitting them to turn an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with internal and external doors typically requiring different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is vital. It depends on the use that your doors and window handles for wooden windows receive. Doors that are external, for instance are required to be fitted with cylinders that are more secure, whereas doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders come with additional features that can improve security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder needs to be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, if there is one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place however in the event that this is not feasible, you can take it off and remove it to measure. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long.

The design of the latest cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease attacks by forcing cylinders to turn in a different direction. This will help to prevent attacks and protect your doors.

Certain cylinders are made to withstand snapping. This is a growing kind of attack on cylinders, which is where the break line of the lock is targeted using a special tool to break off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is a much faster and more convenient method of gaining access than through a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which could delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found in the base plate of your door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to return the multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. Previously a lot of these types of handle did not have a spring built into them, and as a result, they are more likely to slide or drop when the locking mechanism is removed. This simple feature is among the most effective ways to fix this issue and is a great way to prevent your upvc doors from getting stuck in the open or closed position, as they aren't always easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a spring multipoint lock. They will not fit unsprung handles and you'll need to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please look at the image for a detailed diagram). They are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes inside the door handle backplate of various brands of uPVC doors. They are sold as one unit. They feature a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
